“On the 14th of March, at Highgate Cemetery, Karl Marx was laid to rest beside his wife and children. In the presence of a few friends, I pronounced the following words as his funeral oration:

“The man to whom the present generation owes more than to any other man, the founder of scientific socialism, died on the 14th of March 1883. His name will endure through the ages and so also will his work.”
